This year has been one of challenge and loss for my family, but also one of abundant blessings. That is the way life goes, I guess. Because of those losses, this year our Christmas traditions changed a bit. It is strange when something that has been woven into the fabric of your life is suddenly pulled out of it.
But today reminds us that while there is loss and sorrow in this world, that we are meant for I higher and greater destiny. That is because the Son of God came down from Heaven to lift us up to our Eternal Home. So, as Linus reminded us, these are the words that bring us hope this day:
Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping the night watch over their flock.
The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear.
The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”
