In every Star Wars trilogy, not only is there a young, idealistic hero, but there is also a strong heroinne as well. Queen Amidala and Princess Leia are bold, intelligent, and feminine. So what young actress today could be the next Star Wars character to carry on that tradition.
And with a new trilogy, we could conceivably have a role reversal where it is the female Skywalker who is the Jedi hero.

She has shown a good deal of her ability to work with special effects and makeup in the
Twilight movies and now that this series is over, she can commit to other projects

Anyone who has seen her work in
Hanna knows that she can bring the intensity, but she can also play very young and innocent, as she did in
The Lovely Bones.
Chloe Grace Mortez
Her work in
Kick @$$ shows that she showed her prowess as a young action hero. She could parlay that experience into some awesome adventure set pieces.

Best known for her work on
The Walking Dead, she has turned in some terrific performances. She is the most feminine person on the show while making it clear that she can kick some serious butt.
While I appreciate the list of actresses Catholicskywalker has put forward, I still say none of the above. Without a doubt the role should go to Sally Kellerman. I admit she might be a little older than some of Catholicskywalker's picks for the new Star Wars heroine. However, it will be well worth it when the audience hears Kellerman's as a jedi quoting Molly Bloom's soliloquy. Just imagine Kellerman with a flower held in her hair by the Force, like the Andalusian girls wearing her red jedi dress next to a Moorish wall... now that is what I am talking about. Make it happen Catholicskywalker...make it happen.
