"Put Not Your Trust in Princes..." Election Day 2020

 We are a divided country.

I don't think that this is a controversial statement.  And no matter who wins today, I do not see that division healing up any time soon.

Today, emotions are high.  Living in a democratic republic, our elections do matter.  The winner of today's' election will have a tremendous impact on things like the lives of the unborn, our economy, and how we deal with COVID.  So I do not want to give the impression that I am minimizing the seriousness of today's results.

But no matter what, we as Christians must always keep these things in the proper perspective.  Scripture says:

Put no trust in princes,
    in children of Adam powerless to save.
    Who breathing his last, returns to the earth;
    that day all his planning comes to nothing.

Blessed the one whose help is the God of Jacob,
    whose hope is in the Lord, his God,

If your candidate loses today, remember that ultimately God is in control.  No matter who is elected, His will is going to be done.  The only question is whether or not we are on His side as it occurs.  Our country will not be lost as long as we do our best to live the way He desires.

If your candidate wins, please remember that political success is only one part of building up the Kingdom of God.  God is the builder.  No success will stand the test of time unless God grants it His blessings.  While presidents can do a tremendous amount of damage or a large amount of good, the future is not in their hands, but God's.

Be at peace!

Regardless of what happens today, just remember to hug your family, be good to your friends and neighbors, meet the Lord in prayer, and roll up your sleeves to continue working in the Vineyard of the Lord.

Jesus is Lord, win, lose, or draw.
