Trailer Time: Avengers: Endgame Trailer #1 (2019) | Movieclips Trailers
It has been over a week since this trailer dropped. It has been poured over by the internet, but I had some thoughts I'd like to share.
As has been mentioned by many, this trailer is light on plot details. But that misses the point. The trailer is there to get across this solemn point:
This is the end.
The original Avengers actors have their contracts up and there is no guarantee that their characters will make it out of this alive. To understand the emotional impact, think about this: seniors in high school were in first grade when Iron Man came out. This means that they have spent most of their childhood growing up with this story. This is much longer than fans of the Original Star Wars trilogy had and much, much shorter than The Lord of the Rings. It is comparable to the Harry Potter series, but those films already had novels from which you could glean the story. For the Marvel movies, the outcome is uncertain.
And so this trailer is all about the emotional tone of goodbye.
This will be goodbye to the old MCU. And this trailer set the tone perfectly.
Thoughts?
