I am a huge fan of Jackie Chan, but I have to admit I haven't been the biggest fan of his films. The silly tone was always a bit of a let-down for me. But the skill that he has brought to the action genre is unparalleled.
As he has gotten older, I kept expecting him to retire. But this film looks like a fantastic choice.
First of all, it is directed by Martin Freeman who directed two of my favorite James Bond films: Goldeneye and Casino Royale. So we know that he can do action very well based on the opening scenes from both films.
And the performance I see Chan do in the trailer is great. He has a silent, sad, stoicism that is heartbreaking.
Finally, the action looks as good as ever. It looks like Chan is bringing all of his physicality and new level of drama.
I can't wait to see this film.
