The movie is an international political thriller which is clearly outside of Catholicskywalker’s realm of expertise. He only understands mindless action with paper-thin characters. If there is not an explosion every five minutes or lightsaber waggle he tunes out. Here is a movie that is challenging the viewer to understand the existential horror for Japan as its people struggle with the idea of nuclear rearmament. Shin Godzilla explores Japan’s international alliance with the United States and potential nation ending conflict with China all while using a giant fire breathing monster as its metaphor. Of course, if a movie watcher has the attention span of a fruit fly and a complete lack of international perspective, I guess we are just left with fecal humor. Let me debase myself for a minute and say this Catholicskywalker, the only thing “shin” around here is your film flash of this movie.
Yes, but THIN Godzilla is just silly, (scrawny lizard arms notwithstanding).
